The Amazing Race 5 Eps 1

You see being kind to anybody dosen't pay. The 1st team to be eliminated in this league of the race is once engaged couple, Erika & Dennis. what brought their down fall was Dennis's Kindness. it all happened when Dennis booked flights for the other teams on a later flight causing the other teams to not have enough tickets. most made lurid remarks like calling Dennis a scumbag an a useless piece of shit. and in the last part of the race, Dennis decided to make a move to make sure other people dosen't feel the way that he is really a scumbag by letting another team leep pass them to take the only last taxi left, leaving them lagging behind. then they reached the detour where they are made to choose between doing the task of "zips" or "Chips". in zips, teams are to pull themselves across the htel building from one block to another and then desend fromthe 20th storey to the 1st [i think]. in chips the teams are to go in to the hotel's casino to bet 15 chips [i think] on the number and play roulette (pronounced as rule - lae). the pros and cons are that in "Zip", the task is frightening but will be over in a short period of time. while in "Chips" the task is not frightening at al but will take a longer period of time as if the team finishes their number of chips, they will need to go for "zips". anyway,

Guess what? IT's Youth day. a holiday on the very first week of the 3rd school term. Pheew! that was fast, the first week is almost over so 11 weeks remains of the school term. That's all folks!

Sing To The Dawn by Mingfong Ho

Sing to the dawn is the novel that my school is using or has been using for the teaching of english literature. the novel, which is based on the lives of a brother and a sister, both living in Thailand, they lived on a farm and thier father was a pleasant. the sibblings go to the village school together and by the way, their names are Dawan, the sister and Kwai, the younger brother. they attend school so that everyone of them has aleast a chance to go to the city for further schooling. Although, you know in the past the society is more in favor of the man being the head of the house, Dawan won the scholarship and is pleading for her father to let her go to the city to further her studies. At first the father was nagetive on letting her go to the city to further her chances of helping the villagers but then came the day that Kwai found out that he was second in the class to win the exam and their teachers told him that if his sister couldn't go, he will get to go because he came in second. And with that information in mind, Kwai started threatening Dawan and after all the highs and lows that the story takes you through, like:
- Dawan going to see the Head Monk of the temple in the village market to urge him to persuade her Dawan's father into letting her go to the city. Dawan and mother cofronts aunt and asks her help to urge Dawan's father to let her go to the city.
In the end, Dawan leaves for the city and Kwai stays and in the later part of the story, not added into the novel, the next year, after the year Dawan when to the city, Kwai won the second chance and finally went to the city school to join his sister in furthering their studies.

What a wonderful novel. so wonderful, MediaCorp Raintree Pictures© decided to make it into an anifilm, out in theaters 2005 ...watch for it!

Hubble discovers 100 new planets

The Hubble Space Telescope may have discovered as many as 100 new planets orbiting stars in our galaxy.

Hubble's harvest comes from a sweep of thousands of stars in the dome-like bulge of the Milky Way. If confirmed it would almost double the number of planets known to be circling other stars to about 230. The discovery will lend support to the idea that almost every sunlike star in our galaxy, and probably the Universe, is accompanied by planets.

Steven Beckwith, director of the Space Telescope Science Institute, told BBC News Online: "I think this work has the potential to be the most significant advance in discovering extra-solar planetary systems since the first planets were discovered in the mid-1990s. The planets were found during a seven-day observation period in February by astronomer Kailash Sahu. Some of the stars observed were seen to dim slightly in brightness. It is thought that a planet passing in front of the star is responsible for the dip in its light-output.

The astronomers expect it should be possible to study the atmospheres of between 10% and 20% of the planets discovered.

The US space agency Nasa is studying options to refurbish the Hubble telescope using unmanned spacecraft following a decision earlier this year that, in the wake of the Columbia disaster, it was too dangerous to send astronauts to it on the Space Shuttle.

When the Lights Go Out Pt2

From my own expirience, the lights and electricity went out at once when i switched on the TV to watch Smallville. That's i believed to be around 10:15pm or 1415hrs GMT [i think] with the fear of dark and not knowing where to go, because of the dark. and then my mother lighted a whole lot of candles to try lighting up the house but to just alittle help. So well it was quite fun but as they say:
everything has it's moment and then passes away
So the lights and electricity returned at around 10:45pm or 14:45hrs GMT [i think].
And i watched channel news asia for the latest updates.

The worst affected areas was Bukit Batok and Hougang which only had their electricity returned 2 hours later.

This reminded me of the electricity black out in the north of america.

Black outs reported in and around singapore. Many districts in singapore were involved in the Black out which is reportedly caused by a disruption in the connection of natural gas from indonesia.

Blackout hits many parts of Singapore, power restored within 2 hours
SINGAPORE : Thousands of homes and businesses around Singapore were plunged into darkness after a widespread blackout on Tuesday night.

The 2-hour blackout hit many areas in the central, north-eastern and western parts of the island, including Bishan, Choa Chua Kang, Paya Lebar, Clementi, Woodlands, Bukit Batok, Crawford, Jurong, Mandai, Sengkang, and Aljunied.

Singapore's Energy Market Authority said power was cut off after a disruption in the supply of natural gas from Indonesia.

Holland Village - usually brightly lit and buzzing with life - was suddenly plunged into darkness at about 10pm.

The blackout caught some people by surprise.

Many who were having their usual late night supper in the coffeshops there were forced to finish their meals by candlelight.

"I thought it was some sort of a big disaster because I thought only my block had the blackout. But when I looked at the other blocks, everything was dark," said one.

Recounting the incident, another said: "I was shocked, then I called my mother who said the house was also hit by the blackout."

"It spoiled a perfectly good night."

But the darkness did not stop business at one corner shop selling tidbits and magazines.

In fact, the shopkeeper even sold a few torch-lights.

Security personnel at the Holland Village Shopping Centre meanwhile were busy trying to get the lights back on, but to no avail.

As for the many shops and restaurants in the area, they had no choice but to end business early.

"Customers came at the last minute, and eventually they had to leave because the food can't be served and the air-condition had tripped," said one food shop owner.

The nearby apartments along Buona Vista were not spared either.

The lights in Holland Village came back after slightly more than an hour, and there was a general sense of relief.

Some restaurants and coffeeshops even resumed business.

Staff at the Swenson's ice-cream parlour were relieved that their cakes survived the ordeal.

"People were actually lighting fire starters and sparklers over at the other side. I'm pretty relieved because I need to go home now and I don't want to go home in the dark," said one customer.

At least one person looked at the brighter side of things.

"I'm glad the lights are back on. (The blackout) was kind of fun too," he said laughingly.

Restoration efforts began within 25 minutes into the blackout, and according to Singapore Power, power was restored islandwide at around midnight.

The Amazing Race 5. But is it Really that Amazing?

CBS-American television station, Columbian Broadcast Station, is bringing the all popular Amazing Race which snapped up emmy awards in it's debut. The Amazing Race 5 is promised to be more exaciliarating then all other seasons. The Amazing Race is a race that brings 12 pairs of contestants practically all across the world, facing different challanges, and at each Pit stop where the teams rest and get to miggle with the other teams, as the show likes to put it, for 12hours from the time they arrive at the pit stop. the last team to arrive at the pit stop will be eliminated. off corse, there will be sometimes when they arrive last and were saved before their asses get the boot, and that's because they arrived at a non-elimination league of the race. And what do they get for finishing the race, you may ask. They get:
US$1,000,000

The reason why i say it isn't so amazing is the fact that the race has been going for 5 seasons already, FIVE what are they thinking. if they are already 5 years and are thinking on going for 7, i think they better not, because, it'll be like 7th heaven which will be in it's 8th season this fall in the US.

Well, i just hope they will have surprises installed for the viewers out there. Well, for the answer to that, we'll just have to wait to find out...

Both were very good.

Recently when back to my primary school and once i step through the gates of my primary school, Ai Tong Primary, I could feel the pass memories come flouding through my head, good and Bad memories. just wanted to remember the good ones like my friends and how i actually cried when i was in pri. 4. because i was going to a class different from my other classmates. Huh, those definately were the days.

Harry potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Watched it twice and am planning on watching it again, maybe this time on VCD or DVD. Anyway, this third installment of the harry potter film series is not really the best yet but still worth watching... in this instalment, harry potter is told not to go looking for sirius black, whom all believed killed harry's parents, And sirius who has been in Azkanban prison for 12 years already finds a way of escaping, in the form of a dog or rather, known as "The Grim" you see, the prison is protected by a group of gaurds, Known as "the Dementors" These Dementors feed on people's happy thoughts and memories, leaving them with grim and low memories. anyway, as i was saying, the dementors can only sense human emotions and not animals, and that's how Sirius escaped. then the whole movie goes on and on and later in the story, you will find out who the real killer is, who is peter pettigrew[spelling??] ,Ron's Rat, Scrabbers, is Peter.

In This Movie...
1. Ron finds out that scabbers is a human, Peter pettigrew
2. Hermione gets a cat, Crookshanks.
3. Harry finds out that Sirius is his God-Father
4. Hagrid, becomes a professor for the care of magical creatures.
5. Harry gets a new broomsatick: The Firebolt.
6. Petter pettigre is known as wormtail.
7. professor Snape and Professor Lupin and James potter [harry's father] are friends in the past.
8. Professor Lupin is a warewolf.

During dinner today, my mum and i were talking about our holiday trips, and about how we never enjoy our trip as well as other people do. Recently, about 6 days ago,we all went to Bali and other then swimming in the pool, leaving the hotel to the village shops [well not exactly a village], we have nothing to do and just were stuck in the hotel, watching BBC World, Cinemax, MTV Asia. we were just so Bored, and are very home sick. [litterally] so i guess that's why they say:
HOME IS WHERE THE HEART LIES!!
